What is better than being able to keep yourself entertained just about everywhere you go? Well, with the size of the electronic devices and considering how advanced they are, nobody should ever find themselves bored again. There are just too many options out there, from smart phones and tablets to portable gaming devices. Everything has gotten much smaller and much more advanced than they were just a couple of years ago.
Plus, almost all of them can be used on a wireless network or at least Wi-Fi for those not wanting to pay another subscription. You can download just about anything, from a song to a streaming movie, and with the new speeds, they are not taking forever any longer. The phones and tablets are like having little computers in the palm of your hand; in truth these tiny devices are much more powerful than even your home computer would have been just a few years ago.
And you can do much more on them because of the interface and ease of use. Plus just about everyone has become much more tech savvy over the past couple of years, you even see grandparents walking around with their iPhones. What is great about how small and portable these devices have gotten is that they allow you to do things that you would never have been able to do before. You can communicate and keep in touch with the world in a way that wasn't possible in the past.
You are going to never be bored again. But even with these advances and good things, there are a couple of negatives. Chief among them is the fact that these devices become too big of a part of people's lives. They become so addicting that individuals cannot stop using them at the dinner table or in the car or in the movie theater. Some users have even developed the attitude that they can do these things whenever they want, no matter how the social implications may perhaps be negative.
It has also drawn individuals out of the act of having real conversation, with complete sentences and complete thoughts, face to face. It might impede somebody's social skills if they already have a preference for non-social activities. But like everything else, if you can find a good middle ground, and use it in moderation, everything should be just fine. As long as you keep everything that is really important in the right perspective.
