How to Update Spice MI 300 to Android 3.0 Gingerbread

The Spice MI 300 is one of the Android phones that were developed to save on the cost of buying highly rated Android phones from major phone manufacturers. Unfortunately the Spice MI 300 comes in only a 2.2 Android platform, but if you follows a couple of steps, the phone can be converted into an Android 4.0 Gingerbread. There are numerous methods that are available for one to use in order to upgrade the Spice MI 300 supplied by different vendors, but as a precaution it is important to back up all data recorded in the phone before proceeding to upgrade the system, one should also know how to restore the data to the phone in case something goes wrong. Apart from the risk of losing data one will also lose their warranty in upgrading the phone although the updating process is quite cheap, one must be willing to lose their warranty. This means that if one opts to take the risk, one should follow the steps given to the letter.

The first thing that one should look into is the equipment that will be used to upgrade the phone. One will need to have the phone, naturally. A PC that is connected top the internet and loaded with a strong antivirus is also very useful. In addition one will need a secure connection between the PC and the phone, usually provided by a data cable.

Using the gingerbread Cyanogens method is one of the most popular methods of upgrading the phone and the first requirements that the ROM of vendor should be on the Éclair 2.1 operating system. If one is not on the operating system, reports of power on and network connectivity have been recorded.

One is then expected to root their phone with help from the Z4Root; a permanent rooting is more preferred over a temporary rooting. One should then ensure data connectivity of the phone to prevent the software from downloading extra components.

The next step is to use a ROM manager that can be acquired from the Android market and then install the ClockworkMod recovery 2.5.1.3 version. One can then download the Cyanogens mod for the Spice MI 300 and proceed to copy the downloaded file in the phone's SD card. One also needs to download the Google apps and copy them on the phones SD card.

Using the phone, one may start the ROM management operation and select the 'reboot in recovery' option. One should then enter the ClockworkMod at this juncture and then use the power button on the device to go back. The nest step to take is to 'factory reset' the device to remove all files that are Éclair build.

One has to then run the files on the SD card, first the cm-z71-full-25.zip file and followed by the gapps-gb-201120-signed.zip file. Upon completion of processing, one may proceed to reboot the now upgraded Spice MI 300 phone. In some cases the process may seem harder than it really is but one will have to familiarize themselves with the terms used through the steps.
